Please bear with me. This blog has recently undergone a migration from Blogger to Worpress and this has resulted in a loss of resolution to images in older posts. I am working to fix this, but it’s a big job!

HOW TO TURN OLD T SHIRTS INTO T SHIRT YARN

DIY: USE TEA TO GIVE A VINTAGE LOOK TO A GARMENT
THIS LOOKS VERY INTERESTING. I AM OFTEN THINKING OF RE-PURPOSING A SHIRT OR SKIRT.
I’ve had good even dyeing with Dylon Machine dye. The main problem of dyeing commercially made clothes is the polyester thread which often does not take the dye. Any suggestions on how to overcome that? It’s only a problem where there is top stitching on the outside of the garment.
It is what it is I think Carol. There are specialist dyes for polyester. But they can get pricey. Personally I don’t know of a way around it (but would love to know!) and it is fingers crossed for me with every dye job, that the original maker didn’t use poly thread!
Love this collar transformation. I heard your interview on Love to Sew. I have been watching and listening to various podcasts and YouTube channels on fashion sewing the past six months. I enjoy sewing, and for me sewing with a purpose, or destinations is a must. I quilt, but really how many quilts does one need in the Arizona desert. I give them away and now starting to sew for charity. I am not a clothes hound but I enjoy fashion sewing. Following the sewing community I am thrilled to have found the Refashioners. Last month I re-purposed a charity shop dress with a wonderful cotton stretch skirt and a pilled top into a darling A-line skirt. I am hooked. Thanks for inspiring me and sharing your talents. I am excited to become part of this community.
