Hey peops! Guess what?! None other than Sally of Charity Shop Chic, launches her own range of sewing patterns as of 9:30 this morning under the trading name Capital Chic Patterns…
Readers of this blog will no doubt remember Sally’s epic trench coat refashion as part of last year’s The Refashioner series. Proof if it were needed of Sally’s epic drafting skills. So this range of patterns promises to be meticulously drafted!
Named after cocktails, (methinks Sally has a penchant for cocktails!) each of the PDF patterns comes with two variations included. The collection comprises two skirt patterns, a blouse pattern, a sweatshirt pattern and two dress patterns. Each of the designs is inspired by the catwalk, red carpet fashion and London street style.
The patternsβ difficulty ranges from intermediate to advanced, perfect for those looking to move on from sewing beginner styles. Techniques such as using boning, French seams and machine-rolled hems are explained in detail; following each set of fully-illustrated instructions is a great way for sewists to learn and improve their sewing repertoires. The patterns are available now for digital download from www.capitalchicpatterns.com as print-at-home and print-at-copyshop PDF files. The patterns currently come in five sizes, from UK 10 to UK 18, and they are nested for easy blending between sizes.

And courtesy of Sally, one lucky reader of this blog can win their choice of pattern from the range to try out for themselves! Simply leave a comment below detailing how I can contact you….and for a bit of fun…tell me what YOUR favourite cocktail is….you never know…it may even end up as the name of one of Sally’s patterns π Giveaway closes at midnight (GMT) on Monday 30th June.
Cheers! Hic….!
Mojito. Or anything with ice cream in it. A cocktail that doubles as dessert!
I have to agree whit the mojito! *getting thirsty as we speek…
Has to be a Cosmopolitan because it reminds me of the girls in Sex in the City and all the deliciously naughty fun they have!

I love any champagne-based cocktail – I’m not fussy! Thanks so much for this giveaway, Sally’s collection looks amazing!
i love the bellini blouse, but alas, i actually don’t drink alcohol so i don’t have a favourite cocktail! i do love shloer though, so that’s normally my drink of choice if i’m out with friends. thank you for the giveaway and an amazing first collection! beththegulfmini@googlemail.com π
For me, anything sweet and fruity is my first choice of drinks. Good luck Sally, your collection is great!
A white russian please!
My special treat cocktail is a vodka martini, but I also like a mojito. Great collection from Sally – they all look fab!
Really like the Martini dress. My favorite cocktail is Raspberry Caipirinha. Maybe there will be a dress for that coming soon…
naheema_gordon2000@yahoo (dot) co.uk
Yay new sewing patterns! A couple of weeks ago I would have named Caipirinhas as my favourite cocktail but I recently overindulged…perhaps something chocolatey like a Toblerone π
(ponymidnight at gmail dot com)
Yay! Love the collection!
My favourite cocktail was a recent discovery called the Dark Horse – featuring tons of lime, basil and chilli π
I really think woo woo would be an awesome pattern name! Imagine the bright party dresses!! Existing pattern-wise, I love champagne, such a fun yet professional look. hannahlouisefrost@aol. co.uk
Not sure I could pick just one cocktail! But am loving these new patterns x
Pina colada… (naehconnection(at)gmail(dot)com)
I am totally a margarita girl! I love all of Sally’s patterns but the Bellini and jagged hem manhattan skirt are my favourites

I love this collection! I’m a mojito girl at heart.
II’m honestly not much of a drinker, because I’m a total lightweight! So on the rare occasions that I do drink, it’s generally one glass of wine. But I do like a strawberry daquiri from time to time. Does that count? (sunnyb64 at Yahoo dot com)
Bellini is my most favourite cocktail – and I love the Bellini blouse! (wendy.trethewy@uts.edu.au)
I’m a dirty martini girl myself, extra dirty π
fallj884 at gmail dot com
It would be a margarita for me. I don’t like many cocktails because I don’t really like sweet drinks, so this is perfect for me. Pattern wise, I love the White Russian sweatshirt. So cool! Grosgraingreen@hotmail.co.uk
Strawberry daiquiri π (So that’s why Sally’s blog has been so quiet lately…)
A pina colada is my fav “drink” cocktail and the Martini is my fav “pattern” cocktail.
Margarita is my favorite cocktail- as for the new pattern line, I like the more urban, minimalistic style and I can definitely see myself wearing some of those at day-to-night!
A Pedro Collins, thanks!
All the patterns look very wearable. It will be hard to decide which one to make first.
My favorite cocktail is a Chimayo. It is made in NM with tequila and apple juice.
Francis
My favourite cocktail has got to be something with gin in it-yummy! Sally’s new patterns look lovely, I would love to win the Bellini blouse, so cute.
Contact email-alexa.c.duff@gmail.com
I love aclassic gin cocktail: gin tonic or hemmingway but a strawberry magarita might slip in here and there, too.
Pimms cup, hands down!
My favourite cocktail is Pina Colada, but I am really digging Sally’s white russian! LOL carlalissa35@hotmail.com
i am a banana margarita kind of girl!
I had something called an English Country Garden the other day; gin, pear juice, dash of white wine and rosemary – and it really smelt like being outside on a summer morning – fresh and lovely. That said, I’m partial to a Bellini, apparently both in cocktail and pattern form.
I love a Boston sidecar, and also have a weakness for the odd Japanese slipper… And among the patterns, I really like that martini dress! I’m contactable through my blog if my email address doesn’t link to this comment – upsewlate (at) blogspot.com
I like me a good mai tai. Though, gin and tonic is a mainstay.
What a fabulous collection! I like a greyhound, or anything with grapefruit juice really.
Favourite cocktail Dune/June Bug, favourite cocktail pattern Bellini. A great collection
admin@printmepretty.co.uk
These look lovely. My fav cocktail is a French Martini. You can contact me via email (thru zilredloh.com)
I’ve never gotten used to the taste of alcohol so don’t really drink cocktails. Perhaps I should try some alcohol free ones? π The Martini dress is my favourite of this collection.
Ooh how lovely, more gorgeous patterns to lust over. I particularly like the Martini but with a Mojito in hand for me. π
Classic Gin & Juice!!!! Very cute classic patterns. romanthasweet@gmail.com
I’ll drink anything with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey in it! What beautiful and well thought out designs from Sally. I’m particularly torn between the Martini and White Russian, although I’d probably get more mileage out of the White Russian.
My favourite cocktail is a Peach Bellini and my favourite pattern is the Bellini!!
Caipirinha or a Caipiroska (made with vodka instead of cachaça)
I’m simple, I like a good old whiskey and coke. You can find me at lanapugh@bellsouth.net
I would love to win the Martini pattern! My favourite cocktail is a Gin Fizz. It’s similar to a John Collins/Tom Collins but is less lemony, less sweet, contains more gin and has a maraschino cherry. Yum! My email is tabathatweedie@gmail.com.
I’ve been wanting a whiskey sour for over a year and half! (Pregnancy and breastfeeding have prevented that from happening, but it won’t be much longer and I can have one!) I would also love to see a dress named after a whiskey sour . . .
I love the White Russian. Just my style!
Oh, how fun! I do love a new pattern and a cocktail. My current favorite is an Espresso Martini. To make: combine equal parts espresso, 1/2 & 1/2 or cream or milk, Irish Cream, Kahlua, & Vodka or vanilla vodka. Shaken or stirred over ice. Yum Yum.
I love a Cosmopolitan
Sorry to lower the tone but its a sex on the beach for me. Or a daiquiri in the summer. Have never seen her blog before, will follow now though.
Love another pattern company to pick from! I think I once had something called a Brown Cow but that would not be a selling point on a new pattern now, would it!
Well, I am from Spain is summer, so Sangría or tinto de verano is what I am drinking the most. I found you through Sally when I was thinking about becoming a refashioner myself. Both of you have really inspired/encouraged me to start doing something with my mum’s wardrobe -it’s a long story.
I love the Cosmopolitan pattern. So chick, so Victoria Beckham!
You can contact me at asterisco.m(at)gmail(dot)com or via twitter @la_madalena
My favorite is gin and elderflower with soda -so summery! jmrbs31(at)gmail(dot)com
I am thrilled Sally has her own pattern company. I’ve been following her Charity Shop Chic site for a while and love how she creates great outfits from not so great beginnings. She’s quite an artist. I also love the pattern designs – very classy and unique. Truly something different! And, I think it’s fantastic she is thinking about the non-beginner sewist. I agree that there are quite a few companies that already cater to newbies, so it’s nice to see someone looking out for the rest of us. Hurrah for Sally!
Okay, I’m really a beer drinker rather than a cocktail drinker, but when I do I’ll usually have a dirty martini – with lots of olives!
While I love the Martini dress it really isn’t the cocktail for me. I’m more of a gin and tonic sort of girl!
dldhill219@gmail.com
Bellini is my favourite!
Nothing beats a fruity daiquiri in the summer!
I’m a Mojito fan as well – but happy to mix it up with the fruits at hand – seriously, anything with ice, mint & white rum will always be a winner!
Been following Sally’s blog for quite awhile and I love her style & design sense – woot for taking it up a notch! I’m not much for drinking or cocktails, but I have to say, it’s hard for me to turn down a B52…
Lemondrop. Or if I’m not feeling sweet a sidecar (which doesn’t make a great pattern name, unfortunately).
What is a straight vodka called? That’s my cocktail of choice! π
jtknittersan@gmail.com
I remember the Fluffy Duck days :). These patterns look awesome, I am already subscribed to the new blog. sstoney@mac.com
I’m really looking forward to trying these patterns! Any drink with citrus in it is for me, I don’t have a specific one though.
In summer, it’s a bellini. But I’d love to make the Martini for the cruise we’ve just booked! Lyn (donny_born@hotmail.com)
Passionfruit Martini – Rainpatter at gmail
My favourite cocktail is a vodka gimlet…
A long island iced tea, thank you very much!
Jenniferdubois@hotmail.com
I love all the patterns but Bellini and White Russian in particular. I don’t drink cocktails very often but enjoy a Blue Moon when i do. I have been following Charity Shop Chic by email for ages now and find Sally’s transformations amazing. I’m sure her new venture will be a success. (annmarshalluk@gmail.com)
I like the Martini pattern. But my favorite cockail is a Raspberry Mojito
I love an Old Fashioned personally. Pattern-wise, that Martini pattern is a stunner!
I like Cosmopolitan, both the cocktail and the dress. They remind me of Sex and the City and I would really feel like Carry or even Samantha in a dress like that, sexy , classy and unbeatable. Good luck to the Charity Shop Chic girl who grew up , I wish her the best of luck.
(elkatoglou@gmail.com)
It’s been sooo long – the Toblerone, I like the Manhattan. They all look great. nessiesews@gmail.com
I love a Japanese slipper, though they can be quite difficult to find! Love the White Russian pattern too! Great to see more indie designers succeeding. I can be found at teresagroves@gmail.com
The Bellini blouse looks lovely, as does the cocktail of the same name. I’ve had precious few cocktails, but I quite liked the Crantini I had once, even tho’ it did knock me off my feet. π
Oh. I am completely alcohol-free… (which, as my friends tell me, is a good thing, ’cause I’m usually on a natural high already and they’d rather not experience me with alcohol on the brain! π )
Yet, I am more than willing to try out the Martini pattern. Seriously: wowsa!
sushi(at)telenet(dot)be
I love Sally’s patterns. My favourite cocktail is a cranberry amaretto, although Long Island iced tea is also lovely. Deadly, but lovely. aemphysics at gmail dot com.
I love a Mojito on a hot summers day. Nothing quite as refreshing as lime and mint. I love this collection as well especially the Martini dress. laura.m.broad@googlemail.com
I will have a Spritz, please! I like the Cosmopolitan dress and Bellini shirt!
