I got one!!!

6th November 2013

…or rather my lovely better half J got one for me! Bless his cottons! I had to go to work, so J left the house just after 7am and made the 45 minute drive to our nearest Lidl store, so he was there before it opened! (Gotta love a man that does that for his missus 🙂 I bought him a lovely wool scarf from work as a thankyou 🙂 Even then it was a close call. Our nearest store only had 2 of these in stock and there was already someone waiting at the door when J arrived. She too was there to nab one of these beauties! So I pity anyone turning up later because by 8:05am this particular store was sold out of  machines AND thread….

I was so excited to hear that some of you managed to get your hands on one too! I let out a little “yay” every time a comment popped into my inbox to that effect 🙂 Thankyou too, to those of you who had experience with these machines and stopped by to let us know how great they are 🙂 I’ve yet to discover that for myself as I haven’t allowed myself to have a play with it yet (I have allowed myself to stroke it a few times as I walk past it…just me then??) as I’ve been busy on a couple of other projects. How disciplined am I?! One to be shared shortly (shhhh!) and the other was assembling my Andy Coat PDF and tracing off the pattern pieces. (Man is THAT back breaking when you don’t have a standing height table!)

So, if you managed to snag one of these…have you had a play with it yet??

Congrats! Me too, last month in Spain we have the same offer. I ask my niece to buy it for me (I was working!)

What a lovely man! I was really dithering about whether to get one but as I think my nearest Lidl is the same as yours that has solved my quandary!! Enjoy your new machine!

Good luck! I bought mine a few year ago at Lidl, it wasn’t a singer, but it’s still a great machine

After I read your heads up about these, I was frustrated as I live in France so I dropped a big hint to my husband (who commutes to the U.K.) and my daughter (who is at Uni in the U.K.) but didn’t really think they would take any notice and, anyway, it’s not exactly something that fits in a cabin bag. Then, today I went into my local Lidl for some loo roll, as you do, and there they had a Pfaff model for 139 euros. So excited but might have to wait to try it out as, unlike the U.K. stores, there were no thread cones. I’ll let you know how I get on once I’ve worked my way through the instruction book.

Pleased you managed to get one. Although it’s not this particular model, (mine’s a very basic janome one), I love my overlocker and wouldn’t be without it.

Oh, congrats! I have a Janome and I LOVE it – it is not a replacement for a sewing machine, but it will really revolutionize some areas of your sewing. Have a good play with it using spare fabric – then have fun! I particularly like using mine to tidy up fabric that frays a lot (like lining) – it gives it a professional look!

Thanks so much for mentioning this offer! I managed to find one today. I was so pleased as it was the third branch of Lidl I tried! Now just have to figure out how to use it…

Hooray! Congrats. I have a Singer that my MIL bought me from Costco years ago and I absolutely love it. It was inexpensive, but after I learned how to set the tensions correctly it’s sewn beautifully.

Thanks for the tip off. I managed to get one today. No thread cones though, so I’ll need to wait til the weekend to get to my local fabric shop. Exciting!

Thank you for mentioning this. I popped into Lidls today to find that they had six available. I had to give one a home 🙂

I got one too, thanks for the heads up! I’m so glad I did because she’s wonderful (I’ve called her Shirley!) I had a few plays over the past couple of days but have spent tonight overlocking all the pieces of my tartan peony, it’s now all ready for sewing and I should hopefully get it done over the weekend! I had wondered if I really needed one as I usually spent time patiently doing French seams but I am totally converted, I’m off to the fabric shop tomorrow to buy some knit to make into a lady skater! One thing I didn’t expect was just how much fun it is to use 😀 Best £150 I’ve ever spent! Hope you get time to play this weekend, Helen x

I managed to get one on Saturday in my local Lidl. Told my husband i had to buy it as it had obviously been sitting there waiting for me! Didn’t realise that they had the thread so will be going back today on the off chance that they will have some in.
